Abstract

With the increasing importance and investments amount in offshore activities due to discoveries in deeper waters, it’s natural that technical issues concerning Subsea Engineering arise, which made it indispensable to Petrobras to create a technical capacitation program in this area. The main goals when this unprecedented program was created were to accelerate the new employees formation and guarantee the continuous actualization of those who were already working in project, installation, operation and integrity management of subsea assets. The Technical Capacitation Program in Subsea Engineering structuring process, led by Petrobras Corporate University and initiated in 2007, has pursued continuous alignment with Petrobras technological challenges and operational needs since its early stages. In this manner, it was possible to anticipate, in the scope of employees capacitation, the technical challenges to be faced by the corporation. Besides the direct gain with employees formation, this program has remarkably contributed to knowledge dissemination, previously concentrated within spread specialists groups, guaranteeing knowledge transmission to future technicians generations. This paper aims to present an historical overview in a 10 years perspective (2007 – 2017) in which Petrobras Technical Capacitation Program in Subsea Engineering was developed and implemented. Three main fronts are addressed: a specific Subsea Engineering Formation Course creation for newly admitted Equipment Engineers in Petrobras; a broad Continued Education courses portfolio confection; technical meetings and internal seminars organization, to promote knowledge dissemination, technical memory logging and employees interaction.
