The role of CIPA in building a safer and healthier work environment

This article presents a bibliographic, documental, qualitative, and quantitative study on the revision of regulations and laws that transformed CIPA – the Internal Commission for Accident Prevention – into CIPA – Internal Commission for Accident and Harassment Prevention, following the expansion of its responsibilities to include combating harassment and all forms of workplace violence. The study also examines the practical application of these changes in organizations, using the experience of REPLAN, Paulínia Refinery, as a case study. Findings highlight the importance of recognizing CIPA’s role in monitoring compliance with internal regulations, ensuring the effectiveness of inclusion and diversity programs, and managing channels for investigating and addressing sexual or moral harassment complaints. The results demonstrate that CIPA’s proactive actions contribute to a safer, healthier, and more equitable work environment for all employees.
