The purpose of this study is to present the main changes occurred in the international standards on rotating equipment adopted by Petrobras, since the completion of the 9th Fórum de Turbomáquinas da Petrobras, held in August 2013. Major technological advancements, improvements, simplifications and additions contained in the last API standards in relation to their previous editions will be addressed. Emphasis will also be given by the authors to the challenges faced by Petrobras during the efforts of keeping updated their own overlay standards, design criteria and other technical documents applicable to new projects.
