The growing need to preserve critical knowledge and foster its transfer among professionals has heightened the importance of Knowledge Management practices within organizations. In this context, this study analyzes the process of implementing improvements to Petrobras's corporate On-the-Job Training (OJT) practice, highlighting its contribution to the sharing and preservation of organizational knowledge, as well as to empowering employees to take an active role in this process. The research is a descriptive, applied case study conducted within the framework of the company's corporate OJT management process. A qualitative approach was adopted, complemented by quantitative data. Data were analyzed using source triangulation, enabling an assessment of the results observed after the improvements were implemented. The results showed that 1,642 training sessions were recorded, with 93.5% of trainees deemed competent upon completion of the process. Improvements were also observed regarding the quality, consistency, and traceability of records, as well as the monitoring and governance of the practice. The analysis also showed that OJT integrates formal and informal learning by combining planning and supervised practice with observation, reflection, experimentation, and feedback. This dynamic supports the transfer of tacit knowledge, self-regulated learning, and the shared agency of instructors and trainees, particularly when supported by organizational conditions that foster dialogue and collaboration. The study concludes that the implemented enhancements strengthen OJT as a strategic Knowledge Management tool, contributing to the sustainability of organizational knowledge.
